Why should I choose one of HB Antenatal Hub's classes?

Firstly because we are passionate about helping you achieve the birth you want and we believe that every woman has the right to a beautiful birth.  We want you to have an easy, calm birth, feeling confident and joyful as you welcome your baby.

Secondly, because we believe we offer the best classes in Hawke's Bay!  We have more combined experience than any other group and offer a wider variety of classes. We also run evening and weekend classes, so you are sure to find something to suit your needs.

Lastly, we believe our classes are great value for money.  As well as comprehensive education and support, all our classes come with added extras, such as vouchers for complementary therapies or mum and baby treatment sessions.

We also believe in quality, and that you get what you pay for. Remember that cheaper is not always better.

Which class should I be doing?

That is entirely up to you.  Everyone has different needs and values, so take some time to read about each class and visit the individual websites.  You are also welcome to contact us as a group or individually if you are not sure what will suit you best.

Should I do more than one class?

All of our classes complement each other, so you may want to do one, two, or more. Again, that is your choice to make.

This is my first baby - which class should I do?

Many first-time mums take the Positive Birth and/or Bay Hypnobirthing classes, which also cover the essentials of pregnancy and birth.

This is my second/third/etc baby - which class should I do?

If it's been a while since your last baby, or you feel you need a refresher.  However, many mums who have given birth before choosing Positive Birth and/or Bay Hypnobirthing classes to add to their birthing skills for a natural, calm and confident birth.

I am VBAC/having a multiple pregnancy - can I take your classes?

Yes, definitely!  All our classes will help support you through your pregnancy and birth and we have extra material just for you too!

What is the difference between the Positive Birth and Bay Hypnobirthing classes?

Both Positive Birth and Bay Hypnobirthing believe that birth is a natural process for a woman and that with the right tools it can be a calm, joyful and even pain-free experience.  Both classes provide you with tools to help you achieve this - giving you confidence and helping your partner support you.

Positive Birth classes run for 10 weeks in total with 2 partner classes and have more of a physical component to them, including tools such as yoga stretches, massage techniques and acupressure.

Bay Hypnobirthing classes run for 5 weeks, with a partner coming to all classes, and have more of a mind component to them, using tools such as self-hypnosis, deep relaxation and affirmations.

Both classes overlap to some extent, and many couples enjoy taking both courses to reinforce the material and to give them extra tools and techniques for a more natural birth.

When should I start a class?

Classes can be started from around 20 weeks onwards, depending on the type of class you want to do.  Just remember that you need time to fit in all the sessions of a course before you give birth, so think ahead.

Does my partner have to attend?

All of our classes have some degree of partner work.  Partners usually come to all the Bay Hypnobirthing classes.  Positive Birth classes have two partner sessions, with the rest for mums-to-be only.  If your partner can't attend, you are welcome to bring a support person, so please just have a chat with us as we will be able to advise you.

How much do the classes cost?

Please contact us individually for our pricing as it depends on the class.  We believe that our prices reflect the amount of work and love we put into our teaching, and the quality of our classes and that it is worth spending a little money on one of the most important events in your life (and THE most important event in your baby's life).
